Introductions

Hi everyone!!!!

Glad you came around to our blog! We're young organization- started in the fall '06.

We've had Hope not Hate town hall meeting on campus to raise awareness about how the U.S. and the Muslim world can work together to stem growing mutual hatred as a part of a yearlong campaign for coexistence on campus. We also had events for raising awareness about AIDS, documentary screenings for movies like Inconvenient Truth, and initiative to attack congress and senate with petitions on important issues like domestic violence and child labor during these 2 years.

This year's campaign is to raise Islamic cultural awareness through the arts and music in context with other cultures and religions.

First initiative for this semester, with SB Muslim Students' Association, is to get students (and faculty, if possible) who have fasted for charity for this year's Fast-A-Thon to share their fasting experiences with the rest of the nation by emailing us their writing pieces. We also ask if you can send us art pieces highlighting what fasting meant to you, or what stood out during the experience.

We're having an art history and peace lecture/contest with MSA, CCM, and Hillel- where we will be talking about Jewish, Christian, and Islamic art. Following the lecture, we will have an art contest where students from different faiths get together in groups and try to create the best interfaith logo. The winning group will each have a prize, and their logo will be use for future interfaith and peace dialogues.

So please join us! We hope to continue breaking down barriers and negative stereotypes! What's better than bringing diverse communities together to represent our humanity!

Stay tuned for updates!
